Welcome to the Pool Trader Blog

Welcome to everyone already in the pool industry, and to those looking to get into it. My name is  Joe Wilmot, and I’m the owner and creator of Pool Trader.

After more than 20 years in the pool service industry, I kept noticing the same problem over and over again: pool routes are often scattered and inefficient. Pool companies end up driving all over town while another company may already be servicing pools right in their neighborhood.

That’s where the idea for Pool Trader came from.

Pool Trader is an open marketplace built specifically for the swimming pool industry where professionals can buy, sell, or trade pool accounts and equipment. The goal is simple:

Drive less, make more!

Right now, Pool Trader is completely FREE for the rest of 2026. Just use the code “free2026.”

Once you create an account, you’ll be able to browse everything on the platform.

In the “Pool Routes for Sale” section, you can see what routes or even complete businesses are currently on the market.

In the “Pool Routes Wanted” section, you can see where members are actively looking to buy accounts and grow their routes.

The “Parts Market” is exactly what it sounds like — a place to buy or sell equipment and parts within the industry.

And last year I added a “Job Listings” section where pool companies can post help-wanted ads.

I’m a fellow pool service professional, and Pool Trader is built entirely from my own experience in the field and what I believe can help improve our industry.

The main goal is simple: help pool professionals build tighter routes.

How Pool Trader Works

It’s pretty straightforward.

1. Create a free account

2. Post what you're looking for

Buy accounts

Sell accounts

Trade accounts

3. Connect directly with other pool professionals

If you're looking to grow, you can make a post in the “Pool Routes Wanted” section.

If you're looking to trim the fat, so to speak, and sell off outliers that don’t fit your route well, you can post them in the “Pool Routes for Sale” section.

From there, anyone interested in your listing can click the “Send Inquiry” button and you’ll receive an email notification.

This feature allows members to maintain some privacy or anonymity if they prefer. Of course, you're also welcome to include your direct contact information right in the listing if you want. The privacy option is simply there if you need it, similar to how platforms like Craigslist work.

This is just a basic introduction to Pool Trader. I’ll be posting more blogs in the future where I’ll talk more about the website, our Facebook group “Pool Trader – Buy, Sell & Trade Pool Routes,” and updates on transactions and activity happening within the community.

One of the most common questions I get asked is:

“What’s my route or company worth?”

That’s a whole topic on its own. There are a lot of factors that go into valuing a route, including location, how tight the route is, your service rates, the age of the accounts, whether customers are on autopay, and plenty of other details.

If you'd like help evaluating your route or learning more about how buying and selling accounts works, you’re welcome to contact me directly for help, advice, or consulting. I do charge for my time:

That said, Pool Trader itself is supported largely by voluntary donations. I am not a broker, and there are no broker fees to use the website or the Facebook group.

If you have a successful transaction or simply want to support what Pool Trader is building in the industry, you can donate here:

If you're in the pool industry and looking to buy accounts, sell outliers, trade routes, find parts, or hire help, create a free account and start connecting with other pool professionals.

Pool Trader is built to help everyone in the industry run tighter, more profitable routes.

Drive less, make more!

Have fun with the platform, use it to its full potential, and if you have any questions feel free to reach out.
